Ever thought about how great it would be to have a sustainable garden, or (sometimes better yet) have someone close to you who does? The dream is becoming reality for many, as The Whole Kids Foundation, PACT and Indiegogo have joined forces to build gardens around the country, and enable people in all communities to eat organically. They’re starting a crowd funding cause, urging people around the nation to fund gardens everywhere. This initiative is especially unique because it’s the first time that a brand and a nonprofit have come together with a crowd funded initiative to make a change in communities across the nation.
So here’s how it works: Let’s say you live in New York, but your best friend lives in Oregon. You can go online and fund a garden for yourself, and for your friend! Anyone, anywhere, can fund a garden for any community, and it’s so simple. Not only will the community have a fully functioning garden, but they will learn how to sustain it and become life-long organic consumers!
“You know the saying: ‘Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he eats for life.’ We’re going a step further and we’re empowering people to teach their own communities how to ‘fish’ so their whole communities will be self-sustaining and will be able to eat for life,” said Danae Ringelmann, co-founder of Indiegogo. I truly love this idea, and wonder why we haven’t thought of it earlier? Either way, it’s here, and it’s taking the country by storm!
As die-hard advocates of sustainable living, we encourage you to check this out, and contribute if you can! I can’t think of a better way to influence your community, and contribute to the health of your locals all with the ease of the internet and a little time in the sun! Find a garden you’d like to fund, and get started here!
Where will you fund a garden, and if you had one in your community, how would you help out?
