Van Jones – “Green for All: The New American Economy. A Benefit for Sustainable Vocations.
Thanks to Loatree I was able to get to go see Van Jones speak at the Marjorie Luke Theatre right here in Santa Barbara! I was not sure what to expect when purchasing my ticket, but I was open for a new view on “going green”.
Van Jones is on a ‘Rebuild The Dream” tour, and we are so lucky to that he made Santa Barbara one of his stops. His lecture was short but very sweet, and VERY informative and left me feeling appreciative for the experience.
Not only was he informative and passionate about what he was speaking about, but he brought humor, which reflected upon the crowd, and consistently had us laughing at his remarks. Humor offers an opportunity to connect with your audience and he wrapped us right into his talk.
Van Jones touched on a variety of topics, but mainly focused on building a ‘green economy’. He started the evening discussing how people who are effected by the economy right now, and then led into how we can go green while bringing work, wealth, and health to communities.
My favorite part of the night was when he described his graph called the 4th Quadrant. He made it very easy to understand and to be able to connect as an individual in this community of Santa Barbara.
The night was really a great experience, and I am very glad I got the chance to go. Thank you Loatree, Van Jones, Sustainable Vocations, and everyone else that was part of making this event happen. I left the event feeling very inspired, and wanting to make a difference in the community, starting with researching opportunities for positive initiatives and decisions.
Some of the Sponsors of this great event include, but are not limited to; The Fund for Santa Barbara, Center for Sustainability Santa Barbara City College, McCune Foundation, Community Environmental Council, The Sustainability Project, Allen Associates, and Harrington Investments.
