The Carrot vs. The Twinkie

What is it about Twinkies that fascinate our culture so? Well to begin with most people seem to feel that they find a way to stay around longer than their life span, I mean hey… even zombie hunters enjoy Twinkies (warning this next video will only really make sense if you have seen Zombieland):

You walk into any given convenience store and you are likely to find a Twinkie… but this isn’t a surprise to anyone because we have been fed high sugar calories for years out of ease. But what about the food that naturally grows, that is naturally good for us. What about the carrot?

The carrot really has a lot going for it:

~ It does not need to be refrigerated

~ It is not messy

~ It is good for your eyesight

~ It has numerous health benefits

~ And last and for sure not least… the natural orange color is known to make people happy!

Recently when I was checking the Sustainable Socially Facebook news feed I came across a great post from Nourish with a video from Michael Pollan (btw, love his website, I know totally not the point here, but still…) who I recently had the opportunity to meet. Check out this video in defense of the carrot:

Here at Sustainable Socially we like to ask questions… you may have noticed… so our question here is how do we utilize social media for the benefit of the “Carrot Brand?” How do we give carrots the love they deserve and encourage our friends to do the same? Should there be a Carrot YouTube Campaign with a Facebook sweepstakes and a Twitter hashtag?
